About us

In our project Saving Antiquities, various research and educational institutions work closely together to bring you closer to the topic of cultural property protection.

Together we want to convey how important the protection of cultural property is and which actors work together and how. It is of particular concern to us to clarify the role of Classical Studies for the protection and preservation of antique objects.

To achieve this, we have a multifaceted offer for you: The focus is on our board game Taskforce: Saving Antiquities, which uses various cases to illustrate the scope of action and decision-making structures that are fundamental to working with cultural property. This way, you can playfully learn complex processes, from preservation to the return of stolen cultural property as well as associated challenges.

In addition, our website offers you extensive information to deepen your existing knowledge as well as tips and tools to protect cultural property in your personal everyday life.

Saving Antiquities is funded by the Volkswagen Foundation as part of “World Knowledge – Structural Support for Rare Subjects” with around EUR 100,000 and has a duration of 12 months. The start was October 1, 2020.
